Happy Birthday my dear Sister Debbie

Photograph of my little Sister Debbie at her birthday party as a child
at our homestead growing up.

Happy Birthday to my dear Sister Debbie:

A birthday blessing
Life is change this much we know
We plant a seed,
we watch it grow,
A caterpillar, small and shy,
Unfurls into a butterfly
An acorn falls so it can be
Transformed into a sturdy tree.
And we know when change arrives
Across the landscape of our lives,
We still can trust
that it will mean
A special blessing not yet seen.
As you grow into all God has planned for you this year,
May each day bring you blessing after blessing.

Mom always called Debbie her Christmas Angel
Sharon was born for St. Patrick's day
and I was her Easter baby
born during Holy week

Happy Birthday to my dear Sister Debbie

A sister is a little bit of childhood that can never be lost.

Snow White's Magic Apples (from: Recipes from Disney)
7 apples
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup dried apricots
1/2 cup dried cranberries, unsweetened
1/2 cup almonds, slivered
3 tablespoons light coconut milk
4 teaspoons brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon cloves
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Preheat your oven to 350° F.
Wash your apples and core with a melon baller, being careful not to go all the way through to the bottom. With a vegetable peeler, skin the top half of the apples and place them in a baking dish.
In a bowl, mix together the oats, brown sugar, almonds, apricots, cranberries, light coconut milk, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves.
Fill each apple with the oat mixture and bake in your preheated oven for 35-45 minutes or until the apples are soft. Let cool for 15 minutes and enjoy!
Walt Disney's first feature-length animated film, the groundbreaking "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," had its premiere on this date in 1937 at the old Cathay Circle Theater in Los Angeles. Among the stars in attendance at the historic screening were Charlie Chaplin, Judy Garland and Marlene Dietrich. Do you remember the first time you saw "Snow White"?
“Christmas doesn't come from a store,
maybe Christmas perhaps means a little bit more....”
~~~ Dr. Seuss
By immersing our lives in the rhythm of the season, charity can flood our souls and fill us with the happiness for which we were created. We awake Christmas morning prepared to celebrate the birth of our Savior not as a memory but as a profound experience of God’s redemptive love.
