Have a Soulful Sunday

The Beauty of Planet Earth

Blasts from the past
I love this

Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

What is Happiness

What is happiness? Let me share this little story with you..
A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud man, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o’clock, with his hair fashionably combed and shaved perfectly, even though he is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today.
His wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary.
After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, he smiled sweetly when told his room was ready. As he maneuvered his walker to the elevator, one of the staff members provided a visual description of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on his window.
“I love it,” he stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy.
“Mr. Jones, you haven’t seen the room; just wait!!”
“That doesn’t have anything to do with it,” he replied.
“Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time.
Whether I like my room or not doesn’t depend on how the furniture is arranged.
It’s how I arrange my mind.
I already decided to love it.
It’s a decision I make every morning when I wake up.
I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do.
Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open, I’ll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I’ve stored away, just for this time in my life.”

Have a beautiful Saturday

We Need a Little Christmas Right this very Minute

We need a little Christmas right this very minute

Love bears fruit and hatred bears fruit.
Love will keep your heart safe, your motives pure.
Hatred only breeds more hatred. Bearing fruits of pain and fear. We cant fight hatred with more hatred.
It can seem an-impossible situation where war and terror attack with no given warning, but we do have a responsibility.
We have a responsibility to not to become just like those who cause such harm.
We have a responsibility to not respond with hatred.
We have a responsibility to show our children how to react to such sorrow.
How will the world change if we just keep fighting out against those who hurt us?
Our responsibility is to keep our hearts soft and believe in the power that love can bring.
To keep peace in our hearts, to focus on the good, to forgive, to help those who have been grieved.
If we don't, then the hatred grows, the worlds lights of love will go out one by one. Slowly the world will fill with darkness, hopelessness and fear.
Be the change.
For our children, for those that follow us, the future generations. Lets teach them love. ~ Rebekah

"For those of us who wish to help bring greater peace to the world it’s important to stay balanced, mindful, calm and grounded. Especially in chaotic times like this, we need to make our own inner peace a top priority…"

“Life is about taking what's given to us and creating something wonderful.”
― Belinda Jeffrey, One Long Thread

The question before us now -- as seekers, as global citizens, as lovers of the world -- is not just what do we need to do, but who do we need to be in order to do it? We have before us a challenge that only the most evolved civilization can meet effectively, calling each of us to fast, to meditate, to pray, to do whatever it is we need to do to ready ourselves, to purify ourselves, and surrender ourselves for the task at hand. Each of us will be assigned our part, how we ourselves can help uplift the energy and prepare the ground, heal broken hearts and work the miracles that will bring down the Light that disperses darkness. And darkness, in time, will be no more. ~Marianne Williamson

Prayers for Paris and World Peace

We are all devastated of this horrible news
Our love prayers and deepest sympathy for all those in Paris
Lord I pray for world peace and hearts of hate be turned to love

As read on Facebook
Thankful Thirteen

Today we weep with those who weep...and we overcome evil with good.
Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.
Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another;
not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord;
rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer;
distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality.
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.
Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion.
Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men.
If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.
Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,”fn says the Lord.
“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
If he is thirsty, give him a drink;
For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.”fn
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Romans 12:9-21

There's a name for war and killing
there's a name for giving in
when you know another answer
for me the name is sin
but there's still time to turn around
and make all hatred cease
and give another name to living
and we could call it peace

And peace would be the road we walk
each step along the way
and peace would be the way we work
and peace the way we play
And in all we see that's different
and in all the things we know
peace would be the way we look
and peace the way we grow
There's a name for separation
there's a name for first and last
when it's all for us or nothing
for me the name is past
but there's still time to turn around
and make all hatred cease
and give a name to all the future
and we could call it peace
And if peace is what we pray for
and peace is what we give
then peace will be the way we are
and peace the way we live
Yes there still is the time to turn around
and make all hatred cease
and give another name to living
and we can call it peace

From Love Quotes and Sayings on Facebook

Marianne Williamson~ With ISIL having claimed responsibility for the attacks on Paris, the world has entered into a full on state of global crisis. All of us are integrating the realization that nothing will ever again be quite the same for our generation.

In the midst of hate, I found there was, within me, an invincible love. In the midst of tears, I found there was, within me, an invincible smile. In the midst of chaos, I found there was, within me, an invincible calm. I realized, through it all, that… In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer.
And that makes me happy. For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me, there’s something stronger - something better, pushing right back.

Truly yours,
-Albert Camus

In the City of Lights the Parisians have put candles burning on their window sills. Looking out from my window I cannot count all the glowing candles as there are hundreds of them. "The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it." John 1:5

Have a fabulous Friday everyone

The weeks seem to fly by faster and faster all the time

Luck Italian style

It's Friday the 13th! In most countries, 13 is an unlucky number but in Italian culture, it is considered very lucky - and Friday the 17th is actually considered to be the unlucky one.
Top 13 Italian Superstitions
1. A Lucky Number
Don’t worry about reading a Top 13: in some countries, 13 is thought of as an unlucky number, but in Italy 13 is a lucky number.
2. An Unlucky Number
You may feel safe now about the number 13 in Italy, but watch out for the number 17 because for Italians it’s an unlucky number.
3. Felines
In some places, if a black cat crosses your path it’s considered a sign of good luck. Not so in Italy, where black cats are thought to be a sign of bad luck.
4. Making A Toast
When you are making a toast in Italy, it’s considered unlucky to do so with water. So do as the locals and make your toast with wine.
5. Wherever You Lay Your Hat
Wherever you lay your hat when you are in Italy make sure it’s not on a bed. For Italians, putting a hat on a bed is unlucky – perhaps because it is associated with death.
6. Meeting And Greeting
When Italians greet each other it’s affectionate involving lots of chat, kisses and shaking of hands. If you have ever noticed a group of Italians shuffling around strangely during the process it’s because it is bad luck to cross arms when shaking someone’s hand, so make sure you do so directly without encroaching on anyone else’s attempt to do so.
7. How Many For Dinner?
Be careful when you sit down to a meal in Italy. If there are 13 people around the table, it’s unlucky. This refers to the fact the there were 13 people at the Last Supper, 12 apostles and Jesus and that it’s said that Judas Iscariot — the one who betrayed Jesus — was the 13th man to take his place at the table.
8. Seating Arrangements
You managed to not sit down at a table of 13 people in Italy but beware – if you are single, you still need to think where you are going to sit to avoid bad luck. Avoid sitting at the corner of a table in Italy because it means you will not marry.
9. Spillig Olive Oil And Salt
Whatever you do in Italy, don’t spill any olive oil or salt. It’s considered bad luck. The superstition may have its roots in times when both items were expensive and considered luxuries, so the idea that spilling them would bring bad luck may have made people just that bit more careful when handling them.
10. Avoid Brooms
Singles also need to be careful when anyone starts cleaning the house. If someone brushes your feet by accident with a broom, you will not get married – so perhaps that’s a good excuse to put your feet up.
11. Some Iron Please
In some countries, people touch or knock on wood to avoid tempting fate. In Italy, the practice of tocca ferro, or touch iron, serves the same purpose.
12. A Charm
One way to help ensure good luck comes your way in Italy is to wear a cornicello charm resembling a red pepper.
13. A Sign
If you want to ward off bad luck then you can make le corna, or the sign of the horns. To make the sign, extend your index and little fingers while holding down your middle and ring fingers with your thumb, and point your hand downwards. Be careful to point downwards because if you make the sign holding your hand upwards it signifies that someone is a cuckold and you could give offence unwittingly.

Words from my Son:

Things I often take for granted: (a) My health, (b) the love I share with "my people", and (c) being born in a nation that has given me so much opportunity to do whatever I aspire to, given the dedication. The latter would never be possible if it weren't for all those brave souls who stood up and put their lives on the line to make the world a better place.‪#‎Iremember‬
