They are playing your song

THEY'RE PLAYING YOUR SONG

When a woman in a certain African tribe knows she is pregnant, she goes out
into the wilderness with a few friends and together they pray and meditate
until they hear the song of the child. They recognize that every soul has
its own vibration that expresses its unique flavor and purpose. When the
women attune to the song, they sing it out loud. Then they return to the
tribe and teach it to everyone else.

When the child is born, the community gathers and sings the child's song
to him or her. Later, when the child enters education, the village gathers
and chants the child's song. When the child passes through the initiation
to adulthood, the people again come together and sing. At the time of
marriage, the person hears his or her song.

Finally, when the soul is about to pass from this world, the family and
friends gather at the person's bed, just as they did at their birth, and
they sing the person to the next life.

When I have shared this story in my lectures, a fair amount of people in
the audience come to tears. There is something inside each of us that
knows we have a song, and we wish those we love would recognize it and
support us to sing it. In some of my seminars I ask people to verbalize to
a partner the one phrase they wish their parents had said to them as a
child. Then the partner lovingly whispers it in their ear. This exercise
goes very deep, and many significant insights start to click. How we all
long to be loved, acknowledged, and accepted for who we are!

In the African tribe there is one other occasion upon which the villagers
sing to the child. If at any time during his or her life, the person
commits a crime or aberrant social act, the individual is called to the
center of the village and the people in the community form a circle around
them. Then they sing their song to them. The tribe recognizes that the
correction for antisocial behavior is not punishment; it is love and the
remembrance of identity. When you recognize your own song, you have no
desire or need to do anything that would hurt another.

A friend is someone who knows your song and sings it to you when you have
forgotten it. Those who love you are not fooled by mistakes you have made
or dark images you hold about yourself. They remember your beauty when you
feel ugly; your wholeness when you are broken; your innocence when you
feel guilty; and your purpose when you are confused.

If you do not give your song a voice, you will feel lost, alone, and
confused. If you express it, you will come to life. We attract people on a
similar wavelength so we can support each other to sing aloud. Sometimes
we attract people who challenge us by telling us that we cannot or should
not sing our song in public. Yet these people help us too, for they
stimulate us to find greater courage to sing it.

You may not have grown up in an African tribe that sings your song to you
at crucial life transitions, but life is always reminding you when you are
in tune with yourself and when you are not. When you feel good what you
are doing matches your song, and when you feel awful, it doesn't.

In the end, we should all recognize our song and sing it well. You may
feel a little warbly at the moment, but so have all the great singers.
Just keep singing and you'll find your way home.

One night President Obama and his wife Michelle decided to do something out of routine and go for a casual dinner at a restaurant that wasn't too luxurious. When they were seated, the owner of the restaurant asked the President's secret service if he could please speak to the First Lady in private. They obliged and Michelle had a conversation with the owner. Following this conversation President O...bama asked
Michelle, why was he so interested in talking to you. She mentioned that in her teenage years, he had been madly in love with her. President Obama then said, "so if you had married him, you would now be the owner of this lovely restaurant", to which Michelle responded, "no, if I had married him, he would now be the President."

The Fable of the Porcupine

Fable of the

Porcupine

It was the coldest winter ever. Many animals died because of the cold.
The porcupines, realizing the situation, decided to group together to keep warm. This way they covered and
Protected themselves; but the quills of each one wounded their closest companions.
After awhile, they decided to distance themselves one from the other and they began to die, alone and frozen. So they had to make a choice: either accept the quills of their
Companions or disappear from the Earth.
Wisely, they decided to go back to being together. They learned to live with the little wounds caused by the close
Relationship with their companions in order to receive the heat that came from the others. This way they were able to survive.

The best relationship is not the one that brings together perfect people, but when each individual learns to live with the imperfections of others and can admire the other person's good qualities.

Wednesday

Here's to more glitter, more paintings,
More kites in the sky
Here's to more hide and seek
More hopscotch
And a twinkle in every eye.
Here's to bike rides
And memories for miles
Here's to nursery rhymes and fairy tales
And never ending smiles
Here's to growing and learning
And time for song and dance
Here's to happily ever after
and having a second chance.

Happy Sunday and Neiman Marcus Chicken Salad

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QWtOvbQHFIM

Robert Pattinson: “If you find a girl who reads, keep her close. When you find her up at 2 AM clutching a book to her chest and weeping, make her a cup of tea and hold her. You may lose her for a couple of hours but she will always come back to you. She’ll talk as if the characters in the book are real, because for a while, they always are. Date a girl who reads because you deserve it. You deserve a girl who can give you the most colorful life imaginable. If you can only give her monotony, and stale hours and half-baked proposals, then you’re better off alone. If you want the world and the worlds beyond it, date a girl who reads.”
What great books do you have to recommend♥

Cannot get enough of this song

My theme song for 2012
You're just too good to be true.
Can't take my eyes off you.
You'd be like Heaven to touch.
I wanna hold you so much.
At long last love has arrived
And I thank God I'm alive.
You're just too good to be true.
Can't take my eyes off you.

I love you, baby,
And if it's quite alright,
I need you, baby,
To warm a lonely night.
I love you, baby.
Trust in me when I say:
Oh, pretty baby,
Don't bring me down, I pray.
Oh, pretty baby, now that I found you, stay..

I cannot get enough of this song
I sing and dance to it every day

Burnt Biscuits

Burnt Biscuits

When I was a kid, my Mom liked to make breakfast food for dinner
every now and then. And I remember one night in particular when she
had made breakfast after a long, hard day at work. On that evening so
long ago, my Mom placed a plate of eggs, sausage and extremely
burned biscuits in front of my dad. I remember waiting to see if
anyone noticed!

Yet all my dad did was reach for his biscuit, smile at my Mom and ask
me how my day was at school. I don't remember what I told him that
night, but I do remember watching him smear butter and jelly on that
ugly burned biscuit. He ate every bite of that thing... never made a
face nor uttered a word about it!

When I got up from the table that evening, I remember hearing my Mom
apologize to my dad for burning the biscuits. And I'll never forget
what he said: "Honey, I love burned biscuits every now and then."

Later that night, I went to kiss Daddy good night and I asked him if
he really liked his biscuits burned. He wrapped me in his arms and
said, "Your Momma put in a hard day at work today and she's real
tired. And besides - a little burned biscuit never hurt anyone!"

As I've grown older, I've thought about that many times. Life is
full of imperfect things and imperfect people. I'm not the best at
hardly anything, and I forget birthdays and anniversaries just like
everyone else. But what I've learned over the years is that learning
to accept each others faults - and choosing to celebrate each others
differences - is one of the most important keys to creating a
healthy, growing, and lasting relationship.

Learn to take the good, the bad, and the ugly parts of your life and lay
them at the feet of God. Because in the end, He's the only One who will be able
to give you a relationship where a burnt biscuit isn't a deal-breaker!

We could extend this to any relationship. In fact, understanding is
the base of any relationship, be it a husband-wife or parent-child or
friendship!

"Don't put the key to your happiness in someone else's pocket - keep
it in your own."

So, please pass me a biscuit, and yes, the burned one will do just fine.

And PLEASE pass this along to someone who has enriched your life. Be
kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind
of battle.

Thanks Liz
Love you

Anyone who was BORN in the 50's, 60's, 70's...

Anyone who was BORN in the 50's, 60's, 70's... We are the last generation who played in the street. We are the 1st who played video games, the last to record songs off the radio on a cassette tape. We walked over a mile w/no worries on being taken... We learned how to program the VCR before anyone else, we played from ...Atari to Nintendo..We are the generation of Tom and Jerry, Looney Toons, Captain Kangaroo. We traveled in cars w/out seat belts or air-bags, lived without cell phones. We did not have flat screens, surround sound, iPods, Facebook, Twitter, computers or the Internet...But nevertheless we had a GREAT time ♥

Did you know the people who are usually the strongest for others are quite often the most sensitive? Did you know the people who exhibit the most kindness are the first to get mistreated? Did you know the one who takes care of others all the time are usually the ones who need it most? Did you know the 3 hardest things to say are: I love you, I'm sorry, and I need some help

Rabbit Rabbit and Happy New Year 2012

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Fuerth

Marriage: I you want something to last forever, you treat it differently. You shield it and protect it. You never abuse it. You don't expose it to the elements. You don't make it common or orinary. If it ever becomes tarnished, you lovingly polish it. Until it gleams like new. It becomes special because you have made it so. And it grows more beautiful and precious as time goes by. F Burton Howard

New Year! May we adopt these ABC's in 2012- A=attitude, may it always be positive. B=believe in yourself, and God. C=courage, may we be courageous in our challenges. May God Bless you all in 2012
Thanks Cousin Darren for this quote
All dressed up and had a fabulous time
at Erica and Scott's wedding.
What a fabulous way to bring in 2012.
We all had such a great time.
And now let us welcome the New Year
Full of things that have never been.
Rainer Maria Rilke
January the month of new beginnings and cherished memories, beckons.  Come let winter weave her wondrous spell, cold, crisp, woolen-muffler days, long dark evenings of savory supper, lively conversations, or solitary joys.  Outside the temperature drops as the snow falls softly.  All of nature is at peace.  We should be too.
Draw hearthside.  This is the month of dream, to look forward to the year ahead and the journey within.
Above quote from  Simple Abundance
A daybook of Comfort and Joy

I am the new year. I am an unspoiled page in your book of time. I am your next chance at the art of living. I am your opportunity to practice what you have learned about life in the last twelve months. All that you sought and didn’t find is hidden in me, waiting for you to search for it again and with more determination. All the good that you tried for and didn’t achieve is mine to grant when you have fewer conflicting desires. All that you dreamed, but didn’t dare to do; all that you hoped, but did not will; all the faith you claimed, but did not have; these slumber lightly, waiting to be awakened by the touch of a strong purpose. I am the new year. ~author unknown
