A Marriage Blessing
We thank You, O God, for the love You have implanted in our hearts.
May it always inspire us to be kind in our words, considerate of feelings, and concerned for each other's needs and wishes.
Help us to be understanding and forgiving of human weaknesses and failings.
Increase our faith and trust in You and may Your prudence guide our life and love.

IF.....

IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise: If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Merry Christmas

What is Christmas?
It is tenderness for the past,
courage for the present, hope for the future.
It is a fervent wish that every cup may overflow with blessings rich and eternal, and that every path may lead to peace.”

Merry Christmas

It is still so unbelievable to me how fast Christmas has approached us once again.
Christmas eve today.

I wish you a day full of love and peace and joy
and remember to celebrate the REASON for this SEASON.

Perhaps Christmas does not come in a store
Perhaps Christmas means so much more.

Blessings

This Christmas

THIS CHRISTMAS, mend a quarrel. Seek out a forgotten friend. Dismiss suspicion, and replace it with trust. Write a love letter. Share some treasure. Give a soft answer. Encourage youth. Manifest your loyalty in word and deed. Keep a promise. Find the time. Forgo a grudge. Forgive an enemy. Listen. Apologize if you were wrong. Try to understand. Flout envy. Examine your demands on others. Think first of someone else. Appreciate. Be kind; be gentle. Laugh a little. Laugh a little more. Deserve confidence. Take up arms against malice. Decry complacency. Express your gratitude. Go to church. Welcome a stranger. Gladden the heart of a child. Take pleasure in the beauty and wonder of the earth. Speak your love. Speak it again. Speak it still once again.

In life many things will catch your eye very few will catch your heart♥

Merry Christmas
Remember that a gift should be treasured; not only the ones that are wrapped but ones that are bestowed upon you.

Years ago, there was a very wealthy man who, with his devoted young son, shared a passion for art collecting. Together, they traveled around the world, adding only the finest art treasures to their collection. Priceless works by Picasso, Van Gogh, Monet and many others adorned the walls of the family estate.

The widowed elder man looked on with satisfaction as his only child became an experienced art collector. The son's trained eye and sharp business mind caused his father to beam with pride as they dealt with art collectors around the world.

One year, as winter approached, war engulfed the nation, and the young man left to serve his country. After only a few short weeks, his father received a telegram. His beloved son was missing in action. The art collector anxiously awaited more news, fearing he would never see his son again. Within days, his fears were confirmed. The young man had died while rushing a fellow soldier to a medic.

Distraught and lonely, the old man faced the upcoming Christmas holidays with anguish and sadness. The joy of the season that he and his son had looked forward to would visit his house no longer.

On Christmas morning, a knock on the door awakened the depressed old man. As he walked to the door, the masterpieces of art on the walls only reminded him that his son was not coming home. As he opened the door, he was greeted by a soldier with a large package in his hands.

He introduced himself to the old man by saying, "I was a friend of your son. I was the one he was rescuing when he died. May I come in for a few moments? I have something to show you."

As the two began to talk, the soldier told of how the man's son had told everyone of his, not to mention his father's, love of fine art. "I am no artist," said the soldier, "but I want to give you this."

As the old man unwrapped the package, the paper gave way to reveal a portrait of the man's son. Though the world would never consider it the work of a genius, the painting featured the young man's face in striking detail.

Overcome with emotion, the man thanked the soldier, promising to hang the picture above the fireplace. A few hours later, after the soldier had departed, the old man set about his task. True to his word, the painting went above the fireplace, pushing aside thousands of dollars worth of art. His task completed, the old man sat in his chair and spent Christmas gazing at the gift he had been given.

During the days and weeks that followed, the man realized that, even though is son was no longer with him, the boy would live on because of those he had touched. He would soon learn that his son had rescued dozens of wounded soldiers before a bullet stifled his caring heart.

As the stories of his son's gallantry continued to reach him, fatherly pride and satisfaction began to ease his grief. The painting of his son soon became his most prized possession, far eclipsing any interest in the pieces for which museums around the world clamored. He told his neighbors it was the greatest gift he had ever received.

The following spring, the old man became ill and passed away. The art world was in anticipation that the collector's passing and his only son dead, those paintings would be sold at auction. According to the will of the old man, all art works would be auctioned on Christmas Day, the day he had received the greatest gift.

The day soon arrived and art collectors from around the world gathered to bid on some of the world's most spectacular paintings. Dreams would be fulfilled this day; greatness would be achieved as many would claim, "I have the greatest collection."

The auction began with a painting that was not on any museum's list. It was the painting of the man's son. The auctioneer asked for an opening bid, but the room was silent. "Who will open the bidding with $100?" he asked. Minutes passed, and no one spoke. From the back of the room came a voice, "Who cares about that painting? It's just a picture of his son." "Let's forget about it and move on to the good stuff," more voices echoed in agreement.

"No, we have to sell this one first," replied the auctioneer. "Now, who will take the son?" Finally, a neighbor of the old man spoke. "Will you take ten dollars for the painting? That's all I have. I knew the boy; so I would like to have it.

"I have ten dollars. Will anyone go higher?" asked the auctioneer. After more silence, the auctioneer said, "Going once, going twice, gone." The gavel fell.

Cheers filled the room and someone exclaimed, "Now we can get on with it and we can bid on the real treasures!" The auctioneer looked at the audience and announced that the auction was over.

Stunned disbelief quieted the room. Someone spoke up and asked, "What do you mean, it's over? We didn't come here for a picture of some old guy's son. What about all these paintings? There are millions of dollars worth of art here! I demand that you explain what is going on!"

The auctioneer replied, "It's very simple. According to the will of the father, whoever takes the son...gets it all."

Puts things into perspective, doesn't it? Just as those art collectors discovered on Christmas Day, the message is still the same: the love of a father, whose greatest joy came from his son who went away and gave his life rescuing others; and because of that father's love, whoever takes the Son gets it all.

In life, many things will catch your eye, but only a few will catch your heart.

Life

Photograph of my Son

"Christmas is a togethery sort of holiday," said Pooh.

"That's my favorite kind," said Piglet.
"Togethery and remembery."

"Don't forget the love," added Eeyore.

You have to take the good with the bad, smile when you are sad,
love what you've got and remember what you had.
Always forgive but never forget
Learn from your mistakes
but never regret
People change, things go wrong
Just remember life goes on.

The Sparkle of Christmas
by Rose Standish Kellogg

The very name of Christmas
has sparkle in it's sound.
It has the shine of tinsel,
of crisp and frosty ground.

It prickles with a fragrance
of spicy northern pine,
whose fresh and pungent perfume
is part of Christmas time

It rustles with gay secrets,
with gifts and mistletoe.
It tinkles with the silver
of bells across the snow.

It smells of goose and turkey,
of walnuts, cakes, plum jam,
of mincemeat from the storeroom,
of ruby jell and and ham.

It spells a brighter brilliance
of stars in heaven's blue,
as if angels, keeping Yuletide,
are lighting their trees too.

It has the shine of tinsel,
Of crisp and frosty ground,
The very name of Christmas
has sparkle in it's sound.
The Sparkle of Christmas as seen on Mortal Muses.

Define Necessity

Remember the true meaning of Christmas
It is not the gifts in your hand or under the tree
It is loving people especially those in need.

A Sunday Kind of Love

A Sunday Kind of Love

The Colours of the Rainbow
Author Unknown

GREEN said: "Clearly I am the most important. I am the sign of life and of hope. I was chosen for grass, leaves, trees - without me, all animals would die. Look out over the countryside and you will see that I am in the majority."
BLUE interrupted: "You only think about the Earth, but consider the sky and sea. It is the water that is the basis of life and drawn up by the clouds from the deep sea. The sky gives space and peace and serenity. Without my peace, you would all be nothing."

YELLOW chuckled: "You are all so serious. I bring laughter, gaiety, and warmth to the world. The sun is yellow, the moon is yellow, the stars are yellow. Every time you look at a sunflower, the whole world starts to smile. Without me, there would be no fun."

ORANGE started next to blow her temper. "I am the color of health and strength. I may be scarce but I am precious for I serve the needs of human life. I carry the most important vitamins. Think of carrots, pumpkins, oranges, mangos, and pawpaws. I don't hang around all the time, but when I fill the sky at sunrise or sunset, my beauty is so striking that no one gives another thought to any of you".

RED could stand it no longer. He shouted out: "I am the ruler of all of you! I am blood! Life's blood! I am the color of danger and of bravery. I am willing to fight for a cause. I bring fire to the blood! I am the color of passion and of love, the red rose, the poppy and the poinsettia. Without me, the earth would be as empty as the moon!"

PURPLE rose up to his full height. He was very tall and spoke with great pomp: "I am the color of royalty and power. Kings, chiefs, and bishops have always chosen me for I am a sign of authority and wisdom. People do not question me, they listen and obey".

Finally, INDIGO spoke, much more quietly than all the others, but with just as much determination: "Think of me. I am the color of silence. You hardly notice me, but without me you all become superficial. I represent thought and reflection, twilight and deep water. You need me for balance and contrast, for prayer and inner peace."

And so all the colors went on boasting and quarreling, each convinced of their own superiority. Soon, their quarreling became louder and louder. Suddenly there was a startling flash of bright lightening! Thunder rolled and boomed! Rain started to pour down relentlessly. The colors crouched down in fear drawing close to one another for comfort. In the midst of the clamor, RAIN began to speak: "You foolish colors, fighting amongst yourselves, each trying to dominate the rest. Don't you know you were each made for a special purpose, unique and different? Join hands with one another and come to me."

Doing as they were told, the colors united and joined hands. The rain continued: "From now on, when it rains, each of you will stretch across the sky in a great bow of colors as a reminder that you can all live in peace. The rainbow is a sign of hope for tomorrow". And so, whenever a good rain washes the world, and a rainbow appears in the sky, let us remember to appreciate one another.

Beauty from Stuggle

Beauty from Struggle

This is a short, edited essay by an unknown author that appeared on an internet site called “I Love Me”.
One day, as a young woman sat in her garden, she noticed a cocoon hanging from a nearby branch.
Before long, a small opening appeared in the cocoon. The woman watched for several hours as the butterfly within struggled to free itself from the envelope in which it had recently been transformed.
Then, it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if the butterfly had gotten as far as it could and it could not go any further.
So the woman decided to help the butterfly: she took a pair of scissors and cut open the cocoon, from which the butterfly then emerged easily.
But, to the woman’s surprise, the butterfly didn’t fly away. Instead it crawled out onto the branch and sat there. As the woman looked more closely, she noticed the butterfly’s body was withered, its wings were tiny and shriveled.
The woman continued to watch because she expected that, at any moment, the wings would open, enlarge and expand sufficiently to support the butterfly’s body.
Neither happened! In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around with a withered body and shriveled wings. It never was able to fly…
What the woman, in her kindness and her goodwill did not understand was that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required for the butterfly to get through the tiny opening, were Nature’s way of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings, so that it would be ready for flight once it achieved its freedom from the cocoon.
Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our life.
If life was without any obstacles, it would cripple us. We would not be as strong as we can be; possibly unable to fly.
Ask for Strength ……. and expect difficulties to make you stronger.
Ask for Wisdom…….. and expect problems to solve.
Ask for Prosperity…… and use your brain and brawn to work.
Ask for Courage…….. and welcome obstacles to overcome.
Ask for Love ……….. and see all the troubled people that need your help.
Ask for Favors………..and see opportunities everywhere.
As someone once said, “I received nothing that I wanted… But everything that I needed.”
Live life without fear, confront all obstacles and know you can overcome them.

I've learned
.... That the best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elderly person.
I've learned
.... That when you're in love, it shows.
I've learned
.... That just one person saying to me, 'You've made my day!' makes my day.
I've learned
.... That having a child fall asleep in your arms is one of the most peaceful feelings in the world.
I've learned
.... That being kind is more important than being right.
I've learned
.... That you should never say no to a gift from a child.
I've learned
.... That I can always pray for someone when I don't have the strength to help him in some other way.
I've learned
.... That no matter how serious your life requires you to be, everyone needs a friend to act goofy with.
I've learned
.... That sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and a heart to understand.
I've learned
.... That simple walks with my father around the block on summer nights when I was a child did wonders for me as an adult.
I've learned
.... That life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.
I've learned
.... That we should be glad God doesn't give us everything we ask for.
I've learned
.... That money doesn't buy class.
I've learned
.... That it's those small daily happenings that make life so spectacular.

I've learned.... That under everyone's hard shell is someone who wants to be appreciated and loved.
I've learned
.... That to ignore the facts does not change the facts.
I 've learned
.... That when you plan to get even with someone, you are only letting that person continue to hurt you.
I've learned
.... That love, not time, heals all wounds.
I've learned
.... That the easiest way for me to grow as a person is to surround myself with people smarter than I am.
I've learned
.... That everyone you meet deserves to be greeted with a smile..
I've learned
.... That no one is perfect until you fall in love with them.
I've learned
... That life is tough, but I'm tougher.
I've learned
.... That opportunities are never lost; someone will take the ones you miss.
I've learned
.... That when you harbor bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.
I've learned
.... That I wish I could have told my Mom that I love her one more time before she passed away.
I've learned
.... That one should keep his words both soft and tender, because tomorrow he may have to eat them.
I've learned
..... That a smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.
I've learned
..... That when your newly born grandchild holds your little finger in his little fist, that you're hooked for life.
I've learned
.... That everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you're climbing it.
I've learned
.... That the less time I have to work with, the more things I get done.

To all of you.... Make sure you read all the way down to the last sentence.

I open the door. The gorgeous guest from afar sweeps in. In her hands are her gifts~the gifts of hours and far seeing moments, the gift of morning and evenings, the gift of spring and summer, the gift of autumn and winter. She must have searched the heavens for boons so rare.
~Anne Graham

December's gifts, custom, ceremony, celebration, consecration~come to us wrapped up, not in tissue and ribbons, but in cherished memories. This is the month of miracles.
The oil that burns for eight days, the royal son born in the stable, the inexplicable return of Light of the longest, darkest night of the year. Where there is Love, there is always miracles. And where there are miracles, there is great joy. Gratefully we weave the golden thread of Joy into our tapestry of contentment. At last we embrace the miracle of aunthenticity, changing forever how we view ourselves. Our daily round. Our dreams and our destinies. Days we once called common now are holy.

On this December 1, 2011 these are my wishes for you

These Are My Wishes For You

May you find serenity and tranquility
in a world you may not always understand.

May the pain you have known
and the conflict you have experienced
give you the strength to walk through life
facing each new situation with courage and optimism.

Always know that there are those
whose love and understanding will always be there,
even when you feel most alone.

May a kind word,
a reassuring touch,
and a warm smile
be yours every day of your life,
and may you give these gifts
as well as receive them.

May the teachings of those you admire
become part of you,
so that you may call upon them.

Remember, those whose lives you have touched
and who have touched yours
are always a part of you,
even if the encounters were less than you would have wished.
It is the content of the encounter
that is more important than its form.

May you not become too concerned with material matters,
but instead place immeasurable value
on the goodness in your heart.
Find time in each day to see beauty and love
in the world around you.

Realize that what you feel you lack in one regard
you may be more than compensated for in another.
What you feel you lack in the present
may become one of your strengths in the future.
May you see your future as one filled with promise and possibility.
Learn to view everything as a worthwhile experience.

May you find enough inner strength
to determine your own worth by yourself,
and not be dependent
on another's judgment of your accomplishments.

May you always feel loved.
